A member from the Zion Line-Beachburg branch Wendy Hallock ( owner of Covenant Farms) approached a local school to volunteer her time and to help out in any way.

Well! From that she helped the students in grades 1/2 and 6/7 to create a Victory Garden. This became a great success.

Wendy rounded up supplies, was given donations from individuals, groups and organizations.

The parents also became interested in their kids excitement, teaching the children to plant an grow a variety of plants and vegetables.

They also learned the process of harvesting, and this has given these children a foundation from which to take home and experiment themselves, along with their families.

In some ways the past is repeating itself, as we all have to learn to be more self-reliant and self-sufficient.

For the next generation this is how it starts: with knowledge comes independence.
