Square-dancing lessons at the mid-point at Westmeath Hall were given a demonstration of near perfection by the Renfrew County Junior Farmers square-dancing group. The dancers are, in no particular order, Emily Schultz and Alex Zomers, Meredith Mulligan and Curtis Schultz, Samantha Cull and Chris Gauthier, Johanna Dwyer and Carson Cole. The caller, no seen, is Ben Straathof. They performed a square which included multiple dances. The group competed at the Junior Farmer’s winter games for all of Ontario at Ancaster, November 19th and earned a second place finish. Their caller, Ben Straathof, was first in the caller’s category. The boy’s were in dark clothing while the girl’s wore pink tops with black poodle skirts trimmed in white showing black and white crinolins. The 25 or so seniors taking lessons were really impressed. Although they would love to do as well as the younger set time is not on our side. Photos by Bob Grylls
