PEMBROKE — The Black Bears Hockey Club recently celebrated the 10th Anniversary of their Charity Tournament, and divided the proceeds amongst three lucky local charities. The two-day tournament saw 18 teams of current and recently retired employees competing against one another while raising funds to support comprehensive care, closer to home.
With this donation of $4,000, the Black Bears tournament has raised $10,700 for the MRI Image Matters campaign.
“This tournament began as a fundraiser for a family member of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories when it was still known as AECL, and each year we look within our work family, and our community to be able to help,” shared Dean Johnston. “We are grateful and proud of what we accomplished this year. Thanks to participants and donors, we were able to donate to the Kisses for Abigail campaign, support a staff member who was recently diagnosed with cancer, and make another gift to the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s MRI campaign.”
The Black Bears also wished to extend a sincere thank you to EGM Insurance and Tony Donnelly for being the lead sponsor of the weekend’s activities, and providing the prizes for the toonie drive.
If you have a fundraising idea for the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation, or wish to help bring the MRI on home, contact Greg Junop at the Foundation Office (613) 732-2811 ext. 7408 or email [email protected].
