(Renfrew) —  Renfrew Lion’s Club President Bob Boyer proudly presented students at Central Public School with a cheque for $500 in keeping with their promise to the Bonnechere Manor.  The Bonnechere Manor Foundation recently hosted their third annual “Move for the Manor” event on June 1st, at the Renfrew Fairgrounds.  Events included a 50K bike ride along the Millennium Trail to Arnprior and back, 10K and 5K runs also along the trail, as well as a children’s obstacle course at the fairgrounds.

The Renfrew Lion’s Club made a promise to donate $500 to the school with the most participants in this year’s event – which happened to be Renfrew’s own Central Public School, with Cobden District Public School coming in at a close second!

“We really wanted to spark competition amongst the schools in the area in order to maximize participation on the day of the event,” said Fundraising Coordinator Claire Ullrich. Co-planner and staff at Bonnechere Manor Dianne Johnston suggested the idea, and the Lion’s Club was happy to support! “Everyone had so much fun, and it really shows how important movement is, for all ages and activity levels,” added Claire.

The fundraiser brought in $1,500 to the Bonnechere Manor in support of the enhancement of the quality of lives of its residents, and plans for next year are already under way!
