RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) — Bonnechere Manor Adult Day Program is launching a “Senior Centres without Walls” program to continue to support adult day program clients to stay connected to others during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the declaration of the pandemic, Bonnechere Manor had to pause its Adult Day Program related to transportation.  However, in the interim, the Adult Day Program staff have continued to touch base with the clients by telephone.

Bonnechere Manor is able to offer this exciting new service as an extension of The Good Companions Seniors Centre without Walls program, which receives the support of the City of Ottawa, United Way East Ontario, the Ontario Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility, and the Older Adult Centres Association of Ontario. The goal is to ensure that agencies in Champlain region and across the province are able to deliver this option to clients affected by COVID-19 disruptions.

Seniors Centre without Walls facilitates interactive group conversations and events via the phone, to help break isolation and forge social connections.  The program’s telephone-based format is designed to help reach clients who are feeling increasingly isolated by physical distancing measures, or those who no longer have access to their regular programs like support groups, adult day programs, and other group activities.

Beginning June 1, Bonnechere Manor launched a Seniors Centres without Walls program. For more information, contact the Client Programs Supervisor Erin Wilson by phone at 613-433-8308 or by email at [email protected].
