WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — A tower license agreement (TLA) was approved at the meeting of Council for the Township of Whitewater Region on Wednesday last week. This agreement is laid out in by-law 20-03-1287, which was taken as read and passed.

The by-law authorizes the Township to enter into an agreement with North Renfrew Telephone Company Limited (NRTC) for the tower license at 44 Gould St. in the Village of Cobden.

The agreement states the licensor [Township] owns the water tower and the land it is erected upon in the former Village of Cobden, now the Township of Whitewater Region, known municipally as 44 Gould Street and described as part of lot 64, plan 65. It goes on to detail the licensee [NRTC] wishes to erect equipment for telecommunications purposes on the licensor’s water tower.

According to Township documentation, the parties wish to enter into this to further define their rights and obligations with respect to the equipment and its anticipated operations.

It then goes on to state: “In consideration of the license fees, covenants and agreements reserved and contained on the part of the licensee to be paid, observed and performed, the licensor hereby demise and license unto the licensee, space on the water tower located in Cobden, in the Township of Whitewater Region.”
