Cannabis Control Act, Smoke Free Ontario Act charges laid

RENFREW COUNTY (Laurentian Valley) — On January 27, the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began investigating a complaint that a person under the age of 19 had been supplied with vapour products by an adult in the Town of Petawawa on January 25. Through investigation, police determined that cannabis had been readily available in a vehicle.

As a result of this investigation 37 year old Petawawa resident Ijaz Ahmed has been charged with the following offences under the Smoke Free Ontario Act (SFOA) and the Cannabis Control Act (CCA):

  • Supply vapour product to a person who is less than 19 years old (SFOA)
  • Have care of control of vehicle with cannabis readily available (CCA)

The accused was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for each violation.
