Cheryl Gallant Has Earned Our Support

Yes, Cheryl Gallant should win the nomination and be returned to Parliament. There are many reasons but I will note only a few.
She was one of the first to challenge the Liberal juggernaut that has denied a majority of Canadians a reasonable participation in the exercise of democracy in Canada since the days of Laurier . In his recent book The Big Shift; John Ibbitson of the Globe and Mail and Darrell Bricker of Ipsos Reid described the domination of the Laurentian Elite. It consists of the cities of Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto where government, business and media exercise control over the Canadian political scene. Yes she was a Reformer but she went on to participate in a government that recognized the other parts of Canada. Her personal beliefs reflect the social beliefs of a voting majority in the riding.
With a major, military base in the riding, she has always promoted Canada’s defence interest in the face of a Liberal government which consistently treated it as a last priority. At the outbreak of the Afghan War the Liberal government sent our troops tragically equipped with fatally flawed but cheap German jeeps major fatalities followed.
The Liberal government chose to hire the Russians (Our enemy) to fly our troops with heavy equipment to troubled spots around the world. They did this in the face of pleas from the military begging the government to equip Canada with heavy lifter aircraft.
Finally and perhaps most importantly, for the purpose of a political cover-up, the Liberal government made the colossal error of scrapping the contract for the greatest current fighter aircraft in the world; the F35. The aircraft is now performing beyond expectations and is in service currently with many of our allies.
Finally, the Liberals are continuing their policy of purchasing the cheapest aircraft namely the 40 year old F18’s which the Australian government was in the process of scrapping. I know something about aircraft and I predict they will never fly for Canadian combat but will illustrate just another boondoggle. The Chief of the Canadian Armed Forces described the last decade of the nineties under the Liberals as the darkest decade. It appears we are experiencing the darkness once again. The Harper government provided the solutions for all these challenges.
While Alberta lost 100,000 jobs and a great northern city was crippled by fire, the Liberal governments gave Bombardier approximately 1½ billion dollars and promised Ottawa another 1½ billion for its LRT.
The federal government transferred (mainly from Alberta) 14 billion dollars in the flawed provincial equalization transfer payment system. At the same time in order to please the Mayor of Montreal, friends, they succeeded in forcing the cancellation of the Eastern Pipeline project thus further undermining Alberta, Saskatchewan. Enough is enough. Carry on Cheryl.
