Press Release
Family and Children’s Services of Renfrew County
For decades now, Family and Children’s Services of Renfrew County has enlisted the generous support of organizations, businesses and community members to help many families with holiday gift purchases for their children.
Last year, this generosity provided gifting for over 300 children across Renfrew County. This year, calls to the agency and referrals for support indicate this number could be even higher.
“We know families are facing many new challenges this year due to COVID-19”, says Lindsay McIntyre, one of the program coordinators for FCSRC’s gift-giving program. “If there are organizations, businesses and community members who are able to help local families by sponsoring a child’s wish list or a family meal, we welcome the support.”
There are many ways organizations and individuals can provide help to families. One of the most popular is purchasing the gifts on a child’s wish list.
The sponsor is given the age and gender of the child along with a list of items that they hope to receive. Sponsors purchase the gifts and deliver unwrapped to a drop off location.
FCSRC staff elves then deliver these presents to parents/caregivers.
FCSRC is also in need of items and financial donations to help maintain its family support bundle program. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the agency has been delivering weekly bundles of meal-making items as well as other essentials, including children’s activities to families across the county.
Lastly, FCSRC is welcoming financial donations of any amount to purchase gifts or meals coordinated by FCS staff with the generous support of Little Things Canning Company in Pembroke. Individuals who make a financial donation of any amount will receive a charitable tax receipt upon request.
Anyone interested in sponsoring a child or a family meal or making a financial donation or donation for the support bundles is asked to call Family and Children’s Services at Renfrew County at 613-735-6866 or email [email protected].
