Farmer has 10 first place winnings at Renfrew Fair

RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) — Renfrew crop farmer and former Whitewater News columnist, Maynard van der Galien, had 10 first placing winnings at the Renfrew Fair. He also won the Andrew Johnston Memorial Trophy Grand Champion Field Crops for his second cut alfalfa, which also won the Champion Hay Exhibit award. 

Van der Galien won first in hay, corn, potatoes and in bread. The former restaurateur placed first in the bread baking class for 60 per cent whole wheat bread and for light rye bread. He also had two second place winnings in the bread class.
