WESTMEATH — An opportunity to hear about and discuss the latest in medical care for women in later life will be offered on Friday, February 24, from 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Westmeath Recreation Centre Hall.
Dr. Katie Forfar, a physician from the Whitewater Bromley Community Health Centre in Beachburg, will set out the current approaches to maintaining good health in a gals-only, informal, open atmosphere – all offered free of charge to Whitewater women aged 55-plus.
This is another in the Speakers’ Series that the Riverview Club has been offering, using a grant from the New Horizon’s for Seniors Program. Last fall the Club held a similar health forum for men.
The event will start with a review of the nutritional needs of older women and then a lunch highlighting nutritional values will be served.
You must reserve your lunch place by phoning 613-587-4502 before Wednesday, February 15th.
After lunch Dr. Forfar will roll-out an interactive presentation and she and her audience will share in a wide-ranging up-to-date look at medical needs and expected results for women in later life.
She promises to both enlighten and engage her audience.
Statistics are changing in Canada with many more women reaching their 90s. Retirement can last 30 years – making health concerns of great importance.
The average Canadian woman at age 65 years can expect to live another 20.2 years. Maintaining good heath enables older women to remain independent, stay socially engaged and enjoy a good quality of life.
