Getting no answers is frustrating

Dear Editor:

I don’t know how the other attendees feel about the three All Candidates Night held (Sept. 10, Oct. 2, Oct. 4), but I’m very frustrated.

At all three we were advised that you could not ask a specific candidate a question and the worst part was that none of the candidates had to answer any of the questions asked or issues raised.

Every four years we, as taxpayers, have the opportunity to hold our regionally, elected officials accountable. If we don’t do that then they will continue to do sometimes good things, but all too often, irresponsible things.

Not answering the tough questions that were asked at the October 4 all candidates’ night was unacceptable for the mayor and the current council. For councillor Dave Mackay to blame the previous council for the $20,000 dog tag lawsuit is ludicrous.

If we continue to elect irresponsible politicians, then don’t expect fiscal responsibility and accountability.
