WHITEWATER REGION (Westmeath) — The annual anniversary turkey and ham supper on June 9th hosted by the parishioners of St. Andrews United Church in Westmeath had a little extra help.
Since the entrance ramp to the hall is out of commission for repairs, the Westmeath District Recreation Association appealed to the community for volunteers to help the church with its preparations and cleaning up afterwards. There was a modest response, but it did make a positive improvement in time-saving.
Youth Ambassador Parker Lessard informed other youths of the necessary help but was unavailable himself because of a golf tournament. His brother Spencer filled in at the entranceway to the hall for any assistance needed for the duration of the supper. Afterwards both of them and some buddies were prominent in getting the chairs and tables away.
The supper was as delicious as ever, with just over 400 attending,
as many were heard to remark after their meal.
