It doesn’t seem that long ago that we were sitting down in Cobden speaking to the local and regional media, in anticipation of the Whitewater Kings inaugural season in the CCHL2.
Today, after 32 games played of the 52 game schedule, we see the Renfrew Timberwolves and the Whitewater Kings tied with 32 points, and the Arnprior Packers within striking distance with 29 points in 31 games.
During the Whitewater Kings inaugural Press Conference in August, we identified the increased quality of the League and the potential for healthy rivalries among the three franchises in the Upper Ottawa Valley.
This has been an eventful year so far.
The entire League was rocked by the tragic accident involving four players from the Renfrew Timberwolves and the untimely deaths of two of their players.
These same three franchises, again in such close proximity, had players that knew the victims and their families, and in many cases were former teammates.  So, while the entire CCHL2 League was impacted, it was particularly felt among the three Upper Ottawa Valley teams and their fans.  And as we play out the remaining games of 2017, we’re hopeful that we’ll can offer an entertaining product for the loyal and dedicated hockey fans in the Upper Ottawa Valley.
