Dear Editor:
Veterans Park is just across Highway 17 from our home.
The Public Works Department is there preparing the site for the “Playground Equipment.”
Have you ever walked through the park? It is a quiet, green-tree, shaded garden! A welcome spot to get off the highway, have a picnic, good clean washrooms, a beautiful lake to look at – Peaceful!
I have always felt most Cobden residents have never waliked there. And now it seems we are to have a playground.
Does anyone really understand to reach this playground, each and every child will have to cross the TransCanada Highway – Highway 17!!
Have you any idea what the traffic is? How fast it zooms by? Some Sundays I wait for a line of cars to pass before I can cross to the Presbyterian church!
If a child falls off this equipment, cuts his knees, bangs his head – who will help?
Vandalism – after dark attraction – we have to remove a soft drink machine because of vandals.
I cannot think of one positive reason to install this Playground Equipment in Veterans Park!
Sincerely,
Beverley J. Cobb, Cobden
