It is with great sadness we announce Lloyd Elwyn Kuehl of Foymount, Ont. passed away on Saturday, April 4 at 75 years of age. Husband of Lois (nee Kauffeldt), whose love for him over 51 years of marriage was no more apparent than in his last few months of his life as she cared for him in their home. Missed already by his children, Lori Jessup (John), Shelley Fritz (Kevin) and Cynthia Kuehl (Darren Hogan) and by his nephew, whom he loved like his son, Trevor Pilgrim (Tanya Thibeau). Proud “Poppa” to Carter and Riley Jessup, Kennedy and Colby Fritz, Skyler and Asher Hogan and Sadie-May and Seth Pilgrim. The lessons he taught to his grandchildren about the importance of working hard but enjoying life will be his greatest legacy. Lloyd was a third generation farmer. He knew every inch of his land and took great pride in what he had earned through hard work. He didn’t travel much farther than his weekly trip to the Cobden Sale Barn but the stories he told of his adventures were rich and colourful, and sometimes even true. If a measure of a man is the circle of friends he made over his life, Lloyd stood very tall among us. His garage, where he spent countless hours with his friends “shooting the sh*t”, may feel empty now but is filled with years of memories of small moments with people that Lloyd admired and respected. Lloyd is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Margaret Kuehl and by his two brothers, Kenneth and Dickson, with whom he can again share a drink, and by his sister, Joan, who once again has to put up with all three of her brothers together. Thank you from the family to the nurses and doctors at Renfrew Victoria Hospital and St. Francis Memorial Hospital who cared for Lloyd over his past admissions and to the PSWs and nurses from Bayshore and Access Health Care who helped care for him in his home in the last month. Special thanks to his PSW, Karen, who made him laugh in his last full day of life and to Nurse Judy at SFMH who gave him a familiar and caring face in his final moments. Professional services entrusted to the care of Zohr Family Funeral Home in Eganville. A memorial service and celebration of life at the farm will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation or the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation in memory of Lloyd.
