Man arrested for human trafficking

RENFREW  The Renfrew Detachment of the OPP has charged a male with sexual assault; human trafficking and drug trafficking after two 17-year-old female victims came forward to police.

The OPP investigation began in early September when the victims reported the details to police. The victims were supplied with drugs, sexually assaulted, assaulted and one of them reported being sold for sexual purposes to adult males in Ottawa. At the conclusion of the investigation the accused was arrested. A quantity of suspected cocaine was seized at the time of the arrest.

Marcus Nicholson, aged 29 of McNab Braeside Township, is charged with 3 counts each of sexual exploitation and sexual assault, 2 counts of assault and 1 count of each of the following: trafficking in schedule 1 drug – cocaine, possession of schedule 1 drug – cocaine, traffic in persons under 18, living of the avails of sexual services of a person under 18 and making arrangements to commit a sexual offence against a person under 18 years of age.

Detective Constable Philip Holmes of the Renfrew County Crime Unit led the investigation, with assistance from the Community Street Crime Unit and the Anti-Human Trafficking Investigation and Coordination Team.
