1931 – 2019
Mary Rose “Mayme” Merchand peacefully passed away at Country Haven, Almonte on Wednesday August 14, with family and friends by her side at the age of 88 years. Jack and Mary raised their family in Dacre. She was the postmaster for Dacre and Douglas for many years and ran the operation from their family home. Mary always was up for a game of cards and was very community oriented. Proud Mom of Debbie, Arthur, Albert and Andy. Mary was loved by her 10 grandchildren and her six (6) great-grandchildren. Much loved sister to Bob Hanniman, Viola Merchand and Joan Hanniman. Mary will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and good friends. Special thanks to nurses and staff at Country Haven for their exceptional care and compassion. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church in Mount St. Patrick on August 16. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Esmonde. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Dementia Society.
