In last week’s Whitewater News, the story titled Whitewater Region Mayor pleased with the past year, looking forward to the future had a quote in it from Mayor Hal Johnson: “One of the most rewarding things is that since elected in 2015, the job situation in Whitewater Region has grown by 110 full time jobs,” he said. “Now we’re trying to add an additional 100 more.”
What wasn’t added in the story, was where those jobs are.
Mayor Johnson said those jobs are at the Whitewater Brewery and at businesses that were started in the township or businesses already here that expanded.
He said it wasn’t council that brought in the jobs, it was council and staff who worked with the business people to make it easier to establish a business here or expand.
“We tried to make it easier to get through any red tape,” Mayor Johnson said. “We helped out where we could.”
