RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — Three Renfrew County residents are facing multiple criminal charges following a four month investigation into multiple break and enter, theft incidents reported throughout Renfrew County and the City of Ottawa.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) in partnership with members of the OPP Regional Support Team (RST), Renfrew County Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Services and the Pembroke, Upper Ottawa Valley, Renfrew, and Killaloe detachments conducted an investigation into multiple criminal offences.
Project NEON was conducted by the OPP CSCU, aimed at investigating and solving numerous theft cases through Renfrew County and the City of Ottawa. Two Criminal Code search warrants were executed, resulting in the recovery of stolen property which included firearms, tools, and electronic devices and camping gear, totalling in excess of $5000. Additionally, over 250 Criminal Code charges have been laid.
As a result of police investigation, Mathieu Robert age 18 of Laurentian Valley Township, Austin Turcotte age 23, of Laurentian Valley Township and a third individual from Pembroke, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are facing multiple counts of break and enter, theft, property and firearms related Criminal Code offences.
The accused have been held, pending a bail court hearing set for Thursday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
