OPP arrest barricaded person, charges laid

RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — On Sunday, March 1 at approximately 11:05 p.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault call at a residence in the City of Pembroke.

The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, and the Canine Unit were called to assist after the subject barricaded themselves in the residence. Police entered the home, and arrested the subject a short time later. As a result of police investigation, Shane Chartrand, age 33, of Pembroke has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Utter Threats
  • Assault
  • Mischief
  • Breach of Probation – two counts
  • Breach of Undertaking – two counts

The accused was held pending a bail court hearing on Monday, March 2 at the Ontario Court Of Justice in Pembroke.
