Outstanding Youth Bursary Recipients 2022

The following was taken from the script posted on the Whitewater Region Township website, as read by Reeve Cathy Regier:

Jenna Thoms: The Township of Whitewater Region would like to present the Outstanding Youth Bursary to Jenna Thoms. Jenna has graduated from Bishop Smith Highschool and will be attending . She has been contributing to the community from a very young age through the rink and the church. She has also been involved in Bishop’s social justice group and various sports. I am pleased to present this bursary to Jenna.

Penny Gordon: The Township of Whitewater Region would like to present the Outstanding Youth Bursary to Penny Gordon. Penny has graduated from St. Joseph’s High School and will be working as a Red Seal Cabinetmaker before transitioning into technological education. She has contributed to the community through a local church group as well as by taking on a counsellor
role at a summer camp. Penny was also a member of the school band and often performed at the school’s coffee house. I am pleased to present this bursary to Penny.

Madelyn Tong: The Township of Whitewater Region would like to present the Outstanding Youth Bursary to Madelyn Tong. Madelyn has graduated from Fellowes High School and will be attending University for a criminology program. Madelyn has an extensive history of community contribution with the Beachburg Lions Hall including helping with meals and roadside garbage pick up. She is also an avid basketball player and was a member of the school team for multiple years. I am pleased to present this bursary to Madelyn.

Kylie Rieger: The Township of Whitewater Region would like to present the Outstanding Youth Bursary to Kylie Rieger. Kylie has graduated from Opeongo High School and will be attending the University of Ottawa Health Sciences program. Kylie has significantly contributed to the community through various events including the World Whitewater Kayaking Championships and the Beachburg Fair. She is also a remarkable athlete and will be playing for the University of Ottawa Varsity Rugby team. I am pleased to present this bursary to Kylie.

July Cobus: The Township of Whitewater Region would like to present the Outstanding Youth Bursary to July Cobus. July has graduated from Jeanne-Lajoie High School and will be continuing to university and the workforce. July has immensely contributed to the community through various school events and helping elderly people with lawn care and maintenance. She is also a significant member of may sports teams including soccer, hockey, and basketball. I am pleased to present this bursary to July.
