WHITEWATER REGIONThe annual Perseid meteor shower is one of the year’s best meteor showers and has the largest number of fireballs. Visibility of the meteor shower will depend on the cloud coverage of that specific night.

According to Scott Sutherland, meteorologist and science writer for The Weather Network, the meteor shower began on July 17 and runs until this Saturday, August 24.

He also states Perseids delivered over 100 meteors per hour under ideal conditions during its peak and has settled to a current rate of 10 per hour.

The best time for people to view the Perseid meteor shower is in the early morning hours, after midnight to before dawn.
