COBDEN — If you like to take photos, the Township of Whitewater Region is hosting a photo contest with a variety of categories.
As part of the redesign of the township website, it was suggested the community get involved with it, said Chief Administrative Officer Robert Tremblay at the April 5 council meeting.
A focus group from people from various organizations and members of the community met with council, staff and Mad Hatter Technology representatives, who are redesigning the website, and one of the things agreed was that the site should also be visually appealing.
“We are seeking entries from the community so the website is reflective of the beauty of our area,” CAO Tremblay said.
There will be a winner for each category, youth and adult, he said, adding, one top photo will be chosen and the photographer will receive a piece of art depicting that photo.
The different categories could include heritage and history; active living and recreation; adventure; nature and water; farming; family fun and business.
CAO Tremblay expects that $500 would be needed for this project.
“The website is a living example of the beauty of our township,” he added.
The review panel of the photos will include staff Jordan Durocher, Nathalie Moore, Mayor Hal Johnson and Councillor Chris Olmstead.
