3rd Annual GIANT Pumpkin Drop in Eganville On a Car?!?!!
Picture a 1200-pound pumpkin dangling from a crane 40 feet in the air. Now picture what happens when the rope is released and that 1200-pound vegetable drops and explodes! It’s quite a sight and you can bring your Thanksgiving guests to the Eganville Foodland parking lot for the free family fun. The 3rd Annual GIANT Pumpkin Drop will take place on Monday, October 12 at 2 pm.
Something new has been added this year to make it even more exciting. The pumpkin will be dropped on a car which, for safety purposes, has been stripped of glass and fuel. So, which item will get crushed?
The giant pumpkin for the Drop will be on display at Foodland until the Drop except on Friday afternoons, when it travels to the Eganville Farmers. Market for viewing from 2 to 6 pm. This pumpkin has been donated for community entertainment and fundraising efforts. Local businesses are supporting this by providing some great prizes for a raffle. This year all funds from the sale of Pumpkin Raffle tickets will support the Eganville Farmers’ Market, which will help to keep costs down for the local farmers and vendors who participate in the Market. The draw for winning tickets will take place immediately after the Drop and winners will be notified.
Tickets are currently being sold at Foodland and The Eganville Leader office, and on Fridays at the Farmers’ Market. On the day of the Drop, raffle tickets can be purchased at Foodland up to 15 minutes before the Drop. A ticket makes you eligible to win one of a dozen prizes including merchandise and gift certificates from local businesses and a giant gift basket from the Farmers’ Market.

Guy Jamieson will once again emcee the Pumpkin Drop and everyone is invited to drop by Foodland to watch and support this fun event. It’s becoming an Eganville tradition.
