The Council of the Township approved a contract Business Outreach Coordinator position for a 12-month contract to complete a Business “Restart”, Retention and Expansion Program.

“We’ve finally been successful in applying for a RED grant, which we’ve added a ‘Restart’ to the issue” Planner Burton said.

HE said they would have to hire a new employee to reach out to agricultural, commercial, and industry to try and attract and retain businesses to the region.

He suggested a 12month contract to facilitate hiring.

He said $25,000 would be paid by the province, $46,000 of the cost paid by the Township.

“How do we retain the values of these companies?” Councillor Nicholson said, saying that retaining local business would be “Tremendous.”

“The timing is perfect to hire someone like this, but i want to make sure after they leave in 12 months, I want to make sure there’s not a vaccum.” he said.

The motion was carried.
