Domestic Violence
Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated three domestic disputes during the past week. No criminal offences were committed.
Break and Enter
On Wednesday, January 17, a residence on Caruso Street in Arnprior was broken into. The victim reported leaving the home at approximately 4:15 p.m. and returned at 8:30 p.m.
A thief had entered by forcing open a back door. Stolen property includes two televisions, a PlayStation 3 system and games, two laptops, a cell phone, a camera and jewelry.
PC Erin Joyce is continuing to investigate.
A home on Fourth Ave in Arnprior was broken into between Saturday, January 20 at 4 p.m. and Sunday, January 21 at 8 a.m.
The thieves entered the property through the backyard and forced open a back door.
Once inside several rooms were searched and stolen property includes an I-pad, cash, prescription medication, radio scanner, two pairs of sunglasses (Oakley and Foxwood Jupiter), a black and pink duffle bag, gold cuff links, crucifixes (gold and silver) and a Fossil watch. The suspects then exited through the front door.
PC Erin Densmore is leading the investigation.
Police would like to speak to the owner of a fish hut that was broken into. On Friday, January 19 a nearby resident reported a camper style fish hut on the Ottawa River near Sandy Hook had the door pried open. It is not known if anything was stolen. PC Marc Bennett should be contacted if the owner wishes to report further information.
Members of the public are reminded to report suspicious activities or findings as soon as possible by calling the OPP Provincial Communications Centre (PCC) at 1-888-310-1122. The PCC is available for all non-emergency calls to police 24 hours a day/7 days a week. You are encouraged to program this number into your cell phone as it is operational anywhere in Ontario should you need to call the OPP.
Thefts
On Tuesday, January 16 between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a wallet from the centre console. The vehicle was parked in a driveway on River Road in Horton Township at the time.
Vehicle owners are encouraged to remove valuables from their vehicles as much as possible. Thieves know that they can quickly enter an unlocked vehicle and search centre consoles or glove boxes. Please remove prescription medications, wallets, cell phones, sunglasses and anything else of value to you. Get into the habit of locking your vehicle at all times. Thieves are often very lazy; if your vehicle is locked they move on to find another victim. Remember Lock It or Lose It!
