The Renfrew Detachment of the OPP investigated 269 calls for service between Monday August 20 and Sunday August 26.

Domestic Violence

Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated nine domestic disputes during the past week. One male was charged with two counts of breach of a recognizance, and two females were charged with assault. No other criminal offences were alleged.  If you or someone you know is living in or involved in an abusive relationship help is available. Contact Bernadette McCann House 24/7 for support, advice or the safety of a shelter at 1-800-267-4930. The Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County is also available 24/7 for information and support at 1-800-663-3060.  You could also attend the emergency department of any hospital in Renfrew County and ask to speak to a member of the Assault Response Team. In emergencies call 9-1-1.

Break and Enter

On Thursday, August 23 at approximately 1:50 a.m., police responded to a break in at a residence on White Lake Road in McNab Braeside Township. The homeowner returned to find a ladder leading to an open second storey window. Several areas of the home were searched by the suspect, but nothing appears to have been stolen. Provincial Constable (PC) Derek Andrechek is leading the investigation.

Later that same morning, PC Cranford responded to a break-in at a residence on Frank Dench Street in Renfrew. Someone entered the house overnight. The investigation is continuing.

Thefts

Suspects have been identified and charges are pending after thefts from Talk of the Town Car Wash, and Squeaky Clean Car Wash in Renfrew. Coin machines were targeted and emptied by two males and a female suspect.   PC Chris Colton is leading the investigation.

A Motorola hand held radio was stolen from a taxi in Renfrew overnight on August 19 or 20. The Vincent’s Taxi was parked in the area of Patrick and Bonnechere Street at the time. PC Janet Guy is investigating.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a female after a theft investigation at the LCBO store in Renfrew on Monday, August 20. Two females entered the store after 11 a.m. One unidentified suspect distracted an employee while the other suspect placed three large bottles of alcohol in a large bag. The two then paid for a small item and left the store together in a pick-up truck. The employees were suspicious and immediately reviewed surveillance video where they observed the theft. The responding officer was able to identify one of the suspects. Bonnie Sue Pirie, aged 49 of Bristol, Que., is wanted for theft under $5,000 and fail to comply with a recognizance. PC Marc Bennett is leading the investigation.

Police are investigating a similar theft in Arnprior at the LCBO on Wednesday, August 22. Two females entered the store and were acting in a suspicious manner. Employees checked video surveillance after the two left the store and discovered three large bottles of liquor had been stolen. They left the store in a beige Ford pick-up truck. PC Amedeo Jean-Louis is investigating.
