RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) — The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 247 calls for service.
Domestic Violence
Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 8 domestic disputes during the past week. One accused has been charged with assault cause bodily harm and assault. One accused has been charged with mischief under $5 thousand and two counts of fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking.

Bail Violations
On October 23, officers with the Renfrew OPP investigated a bail violations call in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of the investigation Justin Smith, 33 years old of Whitewater Region, has been charged with three counts of fail to comply with recognizance. The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on October 24.
On October 25, officers with the Renfrew OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) initiative in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of a traffic stop Tyler Johnston, 25 years old of McNab/Braeside Township has been charged with obstruct peace officer and two counts of fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking. The accused was held for a bail hearing on October 26, 2019.
Impaired Driving
On October 25, an officer from the Renfrew OPP Detachment was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 132 in Admaston/Bromley Township. As a result of a traffic stop Joshua Eady, 25 years old, of Renfrew has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on November 27.
On October 27, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) initiative on Burnstown Road in McNab/Braeside Township. As a result of a traffic stop Anne Carswell, 52 years old, of Ottawa has been charged with operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on November 27.
Mischief
On October 25, officers with the Renfrew OPP responded to a mischief call in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of an investigation, William Renwick, 48 years old of Arnprior has been charged with mischief- destroys or damages property. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on November 27.
Scam Calls
The Renfrew OPP would like to warn the public of an ongoing telephone scam by imposters claiming to be from the Government and warning of social insurance number frauds. The fraudsters advise the target that their social insurance number has been compromised and the intended victim is often threatened with arrest and jail if they do not provide their social insurance number.
With this scam the fraudster attempts to create a sense of urgency which may cause the victim to not verify the story. The scammer wants to trick you into providing your social insurance number information. If a scam artist contacts you or if you have been defrauded contact your local police service and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC). You can file a report with the CAFC by calling 1-888-495-8501 (Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST) or by using their online reporting tool at www.antifraudcentre.ca
