Dear Member of Parliament,

We would like to draw your attention to a matter of great importance for all Canadians, the urgent need for responsible management of federally-owned nuclear waste to keep it safe and out of our shared air and drinking water.

We urge you to take an interest in this issue that is critical for the health and the safety of our current and future generations. The appended statement appears today in The Hill Times. Additional information is available at the websites ccnr.org and concernedcitizens.net .

We would be very pleased to meet, answer any questions you may have and/or provide additional information –including realistic, practical options to move away from current dangerous approaches and move forward in ways that would benefit all Canadians, developing Canadian expertise with global potential while protecting our drinking water and overall health, and providing for many well-paying long-term jobs.

Yours sincerely,
Dr. Gordon Edwards, President, Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility
Dr. Eric Notebaert, Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment
Dr. Ole Hendrickson, President, Ottawa River Institute
