OPP officers in the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP responded to 18 motor vehicle collisions between Sunday, April 15 to Tuesday, April 17 due to adverse weather conditions. No serious injuries were reported as a result of the numerous collisions.
On Monday, April 16, police responded to a single-vehicle collision, just before 3:30 p.m., after a vehicle left the roadway on Round Lake Road in Laurentian Valley Township. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested at the scene. Michael Webb, 43 years old from Kanata, was charged with two Criminal Code (CC) offences: Driving while ability impaired by alcohol and Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood.
He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Tuesday, May 22.
At just after 6 p.m. on the same date, police responded to a possible impaired driver that was stuck in a private drive in the Township of Whitewater Region. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and refused to provide a breath sample.
Thomas McGuire, 33 years old from Waltham, Quebec, was also charged with two CC offences: Care or control while impaired by alcohol and Fail or refuse to provide sample.
He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Tuesday, May 8.
On Tuesday, April 17, just after 7:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a minor collision between a passenger vehicle and a snow plow on Poff Road in the Township of Whitewater Region. No injuries were reported.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested at the scene.
Donald Rushford, 60 years old from Finch, was charged with Care or control while impaired by alcohol under the CC.
He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Tuesday, May 29.
