University women’s hockey games are fundraisers for Ottawa Valley Girls Hockey

PEMBROKE — The Ottawa Valley Girls Hockey Association is hosting Carleton University and Queens University for two exhibition women’s hockey games to be held at the Pembroke Memorial Centre.
The first game is Saturday, October 1 at 3:30 p.m. and the second game is Sunday, October 2 at 12:30 p.m.
Pembroke native Matt Holmberg, head coach of Queen’s University and his counterpart Pierre Alain from Carleton will also be hosting a coaches clinic for members of the Ottawa Valley Girls Hockey Association prior to the Sunday game. 
Players from both teams will be available for a question and answer period following the game on Saturday afternoon.
There are four Ottawa Valley Thunder alumni tied to the two teams. Becky Conroy and Sam Regier have played for the Queen’s Gaels and Sadie Wegner (alumni) and Kaylie Welch (current roster) have suited up for the Carleton Ravens.
Tickets are $5 at the door, with all proceeds going to local girls hockey.
