Update on arrest made after person assaulted with a weapon

Charges pending against Pembroke resident

RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating after a person was assaulted with an edged weapon in a parking lot in the 400 block of Nelson Street in Pembroke.

The incident took place at just after 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 14. The individual fled on foot. A suspect was arrested by police a short time later. The victim was taken to hospital by Renfrew County Paramedics with serious injuries. The injuries are considered non-life threatening at this time.  

A 27 year old Pembroke resident is in police custody and charges are pending. The incident is not considered a random act at this time.  There was no threat to public safety.
