Little Lakes Beach near Beachburg has become so popular, for many reasons, including the factthat swimming in Muskrat Lake at Cobden is mostly not allowd throughout the summer months due to high E.coli counts or the algae bloom.

Whitewater Region’s swim program also operates at the beach due to the closure of the Cobden Beach.

To ensure the area remains sanitary, the township recently had washrooms and changerooms installed.

The township received a grant from the Community Infrastructure Program to help with the project, with the understanding the project has to be completed by March 31, hence the late winter project.

With the covered picnic table, and washrooms/changerooms nearby, this beach is a great place to spend a warm, summer day. In one building are two washrooms, while in the second building, there are two changerooms.

The washrooms/changerooms will be open 24/7 once everything is ready to go, said Doug Schultz, building inspector for the township.

It’s expected they will be opened spring, summer and fall, he added.

The cement pad for another shelter with a picnic table has been poured.
