WHITEWATER REGION (Westmeath) — The third annual cycling event, Tour de Whitewater, has over 300 riders registered to date and is set to be held on Saturday, July 6 in Westmeath.
The event is hosted by the Westmeath District Recreation Association (WDRA) and is a fundraiser to install a Rest Station for families, including a toilet and picnic area, outside of the arena.
After the race in the morning, the fundraising festivities will continue with the first annual Whitewater Bike ‘n Brew.
Organizer Cathy Williamson said the WDRA’s goal is to allow participants and the local public to experience the spirit and creativity of the Whitewater Region.
Scheduled to entertain the crowd are Kacy Blok and Mitch Desilets, both from Cobden. Westmeath’s Upstream Dave Walker is also scheduled to appear. Tickets for the Brewfest are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
