RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) —  The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 189 calls for service.

Domestic Violence
Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 9 domestic disputes during the past week. One accused has been charged with assault; one accused has been charged with assault, two counts of mischief and two counts of fail to comply with probation order; and one accused has been charged with assault.

Assault
On May 19, an officer with the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to an assault call in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of the investigation, Donald Sparks, 76 years old of Renfrew, has been charged with assault. The accused was released on an Undertaking to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on July 22.

On May 21, officers with the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a disturb the peace call, at a residence in the Town of Renfrew. During the investigation the accused became assaultive towards officers and a conductive energy weapon was deployed. As a result of the investigation Mitchell Lance, 30 years old of Renfrew, has been charged with assault a peace officer with a weapon. The accused was released on an Undertaking to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on July 22.

On May 22, officers with the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded at a traffic complaint of a vehicle driving dangerously in the Town of Renfrew. The vehicle was located by officers and failed to stop when directed. Officers made multiple attempts to stop the vehicle and the pursuit was terminated after the suspect vehicle struck one of the police cruisers. The vehicle was eventually located and stopped. The accused exited the vehicle and became assaultive towards the officer. As a result of the investigation Carl Murphy, 63 years old of Renfrew, has charged with dangerous operation, flight from peace officer and assault a peace officer. The accused was released on an Undertaking to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on July 22.

Impaired Driving
On May 24, an officer with the Renfrew OPP Detachment was conducting traffic enforcement in the Town of Renfrew. A traffic stop was initiated and as a result of the investigation, James Ferguson, 54 years old of Renfrew, has been charged with impaired driving and driving with blood alcohol concentration over 80. The accused was released on an Undertaking to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on July 22.

Bail Violations
On May 18, 2020 an officer with the Renfrew OPP was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 17 in Horton Township. As a result of a traffic stop, Alexis Vadeboncoeur, 26 years old of Notre Dame Du Mont, Quebec, has been charged with:

possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC); two counts of failure to comply with undertaking section 145(4)(a) CC; fail to comply with probation order section 733.1(1) CC; unauthorized possession of a weapon section 91(2) CC; knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon section 92(2) CC; occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm section 94 CC; carrying a concealed weapon section 90 CC; driving motor vehicle with cannabis readily available section 12(1) Cannabis Control Act (CCA); race a motor vehicle- stunt driving section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA); and driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available section 32(1) Liquor Licence Act (LLA). 

The accused was held for a bail hearing on Tuesday, May 19.
