WHITEWATER REGION (Foresters Falls) — Recently overheard was the statement, “I [have] never heard of the Whitewater Historical Society.”
This society started in 1965 as the Ross Township Historical Society and with amalgamation, became our present name. In 1995, this group fundraised to build a museum for the artefacts that the group had collected over the years.
A log house was donated by Jack and Janice McLaren and the land donated by Bette Ann and the later Roy Dittburner and today the museum has five buildings: Ross House, St Aidan’s church, Drive Shed, Exhibit Hall and Archives in the former Office of Ross Township.
Run by volunteers and supported by memberships and fundraising the museum soon to be opened welcomes those who would like to help continue to preserve the history of our vibrant region. We need volunteers to assist with small jobs with at times sewing repairs, cleaning and garden help.
Come and enjoy YOUR lovely museum as we represent all the Whitewater Region. See our list of activities for the summer and come on out! If you can donate some baked goods for the July 6th Pioneer and Family Day event, just show up early at 10:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m., as it all helps.
