WhiteWater Midget Girls Hockey Team
WhiteWater Midget Girls Hockey Team arrived home with the top hardware from a tournament in Brockville over the weekend.
Team manager Heather Corrigan said it was a “great weekend. Our girls have gone from five years ago not scoring a single goal in their first year together to now winning a very close tournament.”
The WhiteWater Girls tied three games and won one to get into the championship game, she said.
In double overtime against Smiths Falls, WhiteWater’s Jenna Hedden scored the lone goal with 1:08 left on the clock.
“It was a nail biter,” Ms. Corrigan said.
She noted nine of these hockey players started together five years ago. Now, this is their final year together before moving onto the next chapter, and they are a winning team.
Coaches Adam Corrigan and Tom Barr are proud of their players.
“We have seen such a change in these ladies,” Coach Barr said. “They have gone from not winning a game to winning a whole tournament. We’re so proud of them.”
Coach Corrigan added, “We can’t wait to see what these girls do in the Smith Falls tournament in mid-February.”
