Beachburg Bulls keep the B championship at home

BEACHBURG — Beachburg Bulls Novice team won the B division of its home tournament while Almonte-Pakenham won the A division championship.
Bulls manager Katie St. Pierre noted the two teams played in Game 1 and were the eventual A and B division winners. There were eight novice teams in this tournament comprised of seven and eight year-old players who are currently in grades 2 and 3.
Almonte-Pakenham shut-out the Beachburg Bulls 3-0 in Game 1. The Bulls sat in the penalty box twice while A-P was in the penalty box three times. Scoring for A-P were Jordan Smith with two goals and Graydon Mears with one.
In Game 2, Ethan Howard scored the lone goal as the Arnprior Avalanche edged Ft. Coulonge 1-0.
Petawawa Blackhawks 2 shutout Cobden Cobras 8-0 in Game 3. Petawawa scorers were Neah Poff with a hat-trick, two goals by Liam MacDonald and singles by Landon Crystal, Liam Foley and RJ Mills.
Westmeath edged past Kanata Ice Dragons 2-1 in Game 4. Scoring for Westmeath were Kael Davidson and Hunter Alport while Kanata’s scorer was Alex Ly.
Beachburg shut down Ft. Coulonge 7-0 in Game 5. Twanging the twine were Ryan Yuke with four goals, Kaysen Stone getting two and a single by Aiden Byce.
In Game 6, A-P shut down the Arnprior Avalanche 7-0. A-P scorers were Graydon Mears with four goals, Jordan Smith with two and Ryan Jones with a single.
Cobden was again defeated, this time by the Ice Dragons, 10-0. Twanging the twine in this game were two goals each by Sean Delorey, Jeremy Wyatt and Aiden Lopez and singles by Owen McGinnity, Kieran Lapenskie, Alex Ly and an unnamed player.
The Petawawa Blackhawks edged Westmeath 6-4 in Game 8. Westmeath goal scorers were Riley Couturier and Hunter Alport with two each. RJ Mills was hot, as he scored the seven goals for the Blackhawks, all with assists.
In the B championship, Ryan Yuke scored both goals for Beachburg as the Bulls shut down Kanata 2-0. One goal was unassisted while Aiden Byce and Travis Robinson earned assists on the second goal.
The A championship was a tough match-up with the winner determined in sudden death. At the end of the final buzzer, it was 3-3 for Almonte-Pakenham against the Petawawa Blackhawks. The two teams then went three minutes with three-on-three. When that didn’t determine the winner, it went into sudden death over-time with a three-player shootout. Scoring in regular time for Petawawa was Noah Poff, Landon Crystal and RJ Mills. Scoring for A-P was Graydon Mears with two goals and a single by Jordan Smith.
There is no recored on the scoresheet as to who scored the game-winning goal.
“It was an excellent game to watch,” Ms. St. Pierre said.
Some notable moments for the Beachburg team included Ryan Yuke reaching his birthday goal of scoring eight on his eighth birthday, said Ms. St. Pierre. Kaysen Stone scored his first goal in Game 5.
For each game there was a Player of the Game for each team, Ms. St. Pierre said. Some scoresheets noted who the players of the game were. Beachburg’s Players of the Game were Ryan Yuke, Kaysen Stone and Aiden Byce. Players from other teams noted on the scoresheets included: Alijah Boldt (Cobden), Graydon Mears (A-P), Antony Wilson (Avalanche), Jack Glogowski (Cobden), Kieran Lapenskie (Kanata), Landon Crystal (Blackhawk), Connor England (Westmeath), Cole Currie (A-P) and Liam MacDonald (Blackhawk).
Regular season has ended for the house league and all teams are in play-off mode.
