OPP community street crime unit make drug arrests

RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — On January 28, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit and Provincial Cannabis Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence in the 400 block of Trafalgar Road in Pembroke. 

As a result of the search warrant police located and seized a quantity of drugs, cash and drug paraphernalia. Two adults were arrested and charged with Criminal Code (CC), Cannabis Act (CA) and CDSA offences as a result of the investigation.

Miranda Leigh McLaughlin, age 32 of Pembroke, faces the following CDSA, CC and CA charges:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

 The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on March 3.

Cody Allen Nice, age 29 of no fixed address, has been charged with the following CDSA and CA charges:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 4.
