Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Festive R.I.D.E. program, week three results

RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) 2019 Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign commenced on November 23 and will continue until January 2, 2020. During the third week of the campaign from December 7 to December 13, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP conducted 17 RIDE checks throughout the detachment area. One driver was issued a three-day license suspension. No impaired driving or over 80mg charges were reported as a result of the RIDE campaign. 

In the early morning hours of December 7, police conducted a traffic stop on Petawawa Boulevard in the Town of Petawawa. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. As a result of this investigation 45 year old Darrin Pickard of Ottawa has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offence:

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg

The accused had their license suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear on January 7, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
